Empowering Solutions to End Adult Maltreatment

Thank you for your interest in learning more about Adult Protective Services and Adult Maltreatment in the Commonwealth of Kentucky. Adult Maltreatment is a problem that knows no boundaries and can occur anywhere and at any time. Adult Maltreatment does not discriminate based on race, religion, ethnicity, culture, or socioeconomic group. Maltreatment can be perpetrated by anyone such as family, friends, caregivers, and even strangers. According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, studies have shown that one in 10 Americans aged 60 plus living in community settings have experienced some form of abuse within the prior year, and for every incident of abuse reported to authorities, nearly 24 additional cases remain undetected.

This website provides the latest tools and information regarding data, mandatory reporting, resources, training, and FAQs on abuse, neglect, and exploitation to professionals and the public. It is through outreach like this that adult maltreatment is recognized, and individuals are better equipped with knowledge and resources to assist with the protection of vulnerable adults. Use and share these resources to engage and educate your community about the role everyone can play in preventing adult maltreatment, and to take steps to protect loved ones and friends.
